Edelweiss Builders is a father-and-son business. Louis Hayes owns the company and manages our projects. His father, Ken Hayes, leads our carpentry. Designer Hallie Baumann rounds out the team.
Carpentry and careful project management are at the center of what we do. Together, Louis and Ken bring 40+ years of finish carpentry, so the details get as much attention as the build.
We focus on kitchens, baths, carpentry and cabinets, and full remodels for homeowners in Bloomington and the surrounding area. Design and build happen under one roof, so you have one team to call from the first walk-through to the final punch list.
Meet the team
Louis Hayes
Owner & Project Manager
Louis grew up in Colorado, managing large properties and running his own companies. Today he owns Edelweiss Builders and manages our projects, keeping scope, schedule, and crew on track while his father, Ken, leads the carpentry. His background also includes painting and finish work. A former chef, he’s as comfortable with a paintbrush as a spatula, and once he turned to home renovation, his eye for detail only grew.
Ken Hayes
Carpentry & Construction
Ken is Louis’s father, our carpentry lead, and our best jack of all trades. He brings years of carpentry and drywall experience, plus experience running projects as a residential and commercial superintendent. He’s worked on everything from residential additions to full remodels, and has held a general contractor license in California and Arizona. Now he puts that experience to work alongside his son.
Hallie Baumann
Design
Hallie came to Indiana for her undergraduate degree at IU and now owns a local business in Bloomington. Design has been part of every one of her ventures, and her background in theater set design and construction gives her a builder’s sense of how a plan comes together on site.
